You Don't Have to Know How to Sail to Join
Klamath Yacht Club isn't just for seasoned sailors—it's for anyone who loves the water, wants to learn, and is looking for a community worth showing up for. Whether you've never set foot on a boat or you've been racing for years, you'll find your people here.
How to Join
Membership is open to anyone sponsored by a current KYC member. The best way to get started is simple—stop by on a Wednesday or Friday evening, grab a drink, meet some folks, and pick up an application at the bar. That's genuinely how most members got started.
Application Fee: $100 due with submission. Returned in full if not approved at the next board meeting.
Monthly Dues: $35/month billed by email, or pay annually for a one-month discount.
Annual Work Assessment: 12 hours per year helping maintain the club, grounds, and docks. Unmet hours are billed at $20/hour each January.
Questions? Come find us any Wednesday or Friday at 5:30pm—or reach out on our Contact page.
WHY MEMBERS LOVE IT
~ Access to Upper Klamath Lake ~
One of the most beautiful and underrated sailing lakes in the Pacific Northwest—right in your backyard. Members have access to our docks, harbor, tool closet, and yacht hoist.
~ Racing & Learning ~
We run a full racing season with beginner-friendly events and experienced competition alike. New to sailing? We offer Racing 101 and learn-to-sail classes taught by our own members.
~ The Bar & Weekly Gatherings ~
Barely Afloat—our clubhouse bar—is open every Wednesday and Friday at 5:30pm. Most nights include dinner, live music, or both. It's the kind of place you end up staying way later than you planned.
~ A Full Social Calendar ~
Work parties, themed dinners, regattas, the Firecracker, the Trans-Klam, Commissioning Day — there's always something going on. The social life here is genuinely one of a kind.
~ A Real Community ~
KYC is volunteer-run. The people who built the docks, served you food, and organized the races are the same people you'll be sailing with. It's a tight-knit group and new members are always welcomed warmly.
